Women Suffer More Alzheimer's Risk, Why?

Not a few people with Alzheimer's in the world and in Indonesia. Alzheimer's is part of the disease or senile dementia due to disturbances in the brain. Generally, this disease affects those aged over 65 years, both men and women. However, based on recent studies, women were more likely to suffer dementia.

He is not known for certain factors that make women more likely to suffer Alzheimer's. Specialist in internal medicine and geriatric consultant identifies these, there are two possible causes for it.

First, because women can reach an advanced age, more than men. Secondly, women going through menopause or menstruation stops. At menopause, estrogen levels also decreased.

"Estrogen it provides protection to the blood vessels. Estrogen levels go down, then that gives protection to the blood vessels, including blood vessels in the brain is also decreased," he explained.

Meanwhile, the levels of estrogen in men is always stable or still existed. Alzheimer's alone generally can occur for several reasons. In addition to aging, Alzheimer's can befall those who have high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, and heart disease. In addition, smokers and those who are obese are also at risk of Alzheimer's.

Alzheimer's can not be physically detected early. They must check directly to the doctor. Until now there is no cure for the disease that causes memory loss and mental abilities, but just slow.
